Shamanism is the most ancient spiritual belief practiced by Shamans in the Himalayan region in Nepal.
Shamanism relies on the power of nature and spirits.
According to Shamanic knowledge, the world possesses both good and evil spirits. Spirits are believed to be an inseparable part of every soul. A good spirit will guide one to a good life whilst a bad spirit translates to a bad life.
Shamans hold extraordinary power to directly communicate with plants, animals, earthly elements, wind and spirits. Shamanic healing is a process wherein nature is used as a medicine to cure people of worldly ills. In other words, nature itself is a source of healing power.
Shamanism is even older than Ayurveda. Shamans can certainly be called the first doctors of this planet and their knowledge has been handed down over generations.
Bonpo which precedes Buddhism is perhaps the oldest shamanism practice that originated in Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan. Bonpo Shaman communicate with nature and spirits and use their knowledge to protect human beings from evil forces.
Shamanism is believed to be in existence since the very beginning of Himalayan civilization. Himalayan communities at the time followed Bonpo religion and practiced Shamanism. However today shamanism is almost extinct and is no longer as prevalent as before.

Our Shamanism tour in Nepal allows you to visit Bonpo Community and at the same time meet renowned shaman scholar and practitioner.
