Volunteering Works in Nepal

“Volunteering is an easy way to get involved in practical conservation”

According to Wikipedia:“Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote goodness or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity can produce a feeling of self-worth and respect. There is no financial gain involved for the individual. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, socialization, and fun. It is also intended to make contacts for possible employment. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work, such as medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Others serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster”.

Working In Community Clinic(Remote Village)

Do you have knowledge or experience in medical field? Do you want to work in community hospital? Depending on your medical qualifications, volunteers with a background in healthcare will work closely with community Clinic in Nuwakot District.

The need is extensive for villagers’ health care. Projects could include; health checks, the creation of medical records, health education, Volunteers with health education and first aid training can also provide real benefits to local communities. You can also deliver first aid knowledge to the local villages and assist in developing and delivering First Aid and General Health Programs. Please note that for the health program we prefer medical students or advanced degree holders, however, volunteers with basic experience in this area can also be placed. Community clinic management will decide about your participation after receiving your application letter with C.V(resume)

Teaching in community/ Government School (Remote Village)

“A Good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others”.

Do you have passion to teach in school? Eyes On Nepal provides the opportunity to teach different subjects such as English, Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Environment Science and so on depending on school curriculum (primarily English) at government school. Depending on the school, volunteers will either teach independently in class or with another Nepali helper teacher. Volunteers teach between two to four hours of 45-minute classes each period, six days a week (Saturday is holiday). Volunteers engaging in this program will have some guidance of effective teaching in Nepali style although the volunteers can demonstrate new model of their own teaching style if that is applicable in Nepali government schools. Eyes on Nepal suggest volunteers to learn some Nepalese languages before joining the program. During their placement, volunteers will stay with a local traditional Nepali family located close to the school.

Note: If you don’t have any teaching experience and skills then don’t worry you will receive intensive course during your orientation.

Working in Agricultural Fields:

Note: Volunteer will be staying with local host family and help in their daily house and farm work five days in a week.

About 90% of our population works in this sector. It is the oldest occupation of Nepalese people. But, lack of scientific knowledge, agricultural education, modern technology and good fertilizer, farmers are being unable to take advantage from this profession.

Eyes On Nepal will arrange the opportunity to work with farmers on various sectors such as horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary sciences, dairy science, sericulture, fisheries, forestry, seed collection and distribution etc. In agriculture, the volunteer has to be actively involved in planting, harvesting, marketing and other aspects of fieldwork.

Eyes On Nepal believes that an improvement on harvesting technology and idea, farmers will get more benefit from agriculture. It will improve their economic condition and brings change on life. In returns, volunteers will get chance to observe and know the traditional way of harvesting.
