My wife and I booked the Everest Base Camp trek ~14days/13nights. Eyes on Nepal was very prompt and communicative via email prior to our trip. I am vegetarian and my wife is vegan, and they assured us they could accommodate our meal preferences on the trek. My wife also loves to figure skate high altitude alpine lakes, so we asked if this would be possible on the trek. They again assured us they would help us as best possible to seek out this opportunity in the safest way possible.
The trek package includes all transportation to and from the airport, and all meals and accommodations for the 14 days. We met our guide Narayan as well as the Eyes on Nepal owner Siddarth on the first night upon arrival. They made sure we had all of the right clothing and equipment as well as answered any questions prior to the trek.
We did no realize that in flying from Kathmandu to Lukla you need perfect weather, so it took us a couple days to get into Lukla before our trek. We were worried about having time to complete the trek, so Siddarth came to the airport and helped negotiate a helicopter service to get into Lukla. This type of 1:1 hands-on service was very representative of our experience with both the owner Siddartha and our guide Narayan – which I believe sets this company apart from others.
Our experience was then fantastic starting the trek. Narayan set us up with a porter to lighten our load, and we discussed how we wanted to go at a faster pace to possibly have more days in Kathmandu after the trek. We ended up doing the trek in 8 days, all thanks to our wonderful guide and porter! Along the way, we found some frozen ponds for my wife to skate on and met wonderful people from around the world. Our guide had at least 10 years of experience, and he was knowledgeable about our myriad questions regarding the trek and Nepalese life and culture. He was very fluent in English and ensured that our experience was unforgettable. He was also vigilant about our meals making sure that we had all vegan meals for my wife.
Lastly, when in Namche, Eyes on Nepal rented a big winter jacket for my wife since it was still early season and the mornings and nights were cold. Overall, we had a fantastic experience with Eyes on Nepal and highly recommend it for anyone interested in going to Nepal!
