Pashupatinath Temple- dating back as far as 400 AD- is the holiest shrine of Lord Shiva and one of the four major pilgrimage centers for all Hindus. There are as many as 500 pagoda-styled temples, chaityas and inns and about 1000 Shivalingas (penis of god Shiva).
Deer and monkey parks, Hindu cemetery, Sleshmantak forest and eastern classical music in Kirateswar Temple are major tourist attraction in the area. The temple entirely remained intact from the earthquake damages.
How to get there?
Since Pashupatinath is situated very near to Tribhuvan International Airport, you can easily get a taxi or public bus from any part of Kathmandu city to reach Pashupatinath.
